Immature Bald Eagle Passing Through

While I was watching the Great Blue Heron rookery, this 3rd or 4th year Bald Eagle flew by me down near the Willamette River.

It flew across the river and landed atop this fir tree.  I got the best photo I could…

…considering it was pretty far away.

    1. It’s been interesting to watch- the herons were more spread out this past weekend than I’ve seen them. Some seem to have left the nest area, maybe looking for food. I’ll take another trip down there this weekend.

Very nice shot and how fortunate that you encountered this young eagle. Bald eagle’s have made a true come back nationally, certainly one of the great results of stopping the use of DDT back in the 70’s and of habitat preservation. Thanks for this post.
