I See Anna’s Hummingbirds Everywhere!

I haven’t seen many hummingbirds around here lately, but for some reason they were everywhere this past weekend.  I saw them alone, in pairs, flying around, sitting on trees, and hiding in bushes.

This one is sitting in my cherry tree.  At times I feel like they are sitting atop every tree in the neighborhood.  I find myself constantly looking up into the trees, and sometimes everything starts to look like a hummingbird.

Like this one, for example.  Wait, something doesn’t look quite right.  Let’s take a closer look.

Goodness- I think I’m going crazy!

  1. I’m at my parents’ house in the Phoenix area for the holiday and they (as always) have a continual parade of Anna’s Hummingbirds at their feeder – I always keep a sharp eye on them in case a Black-chinned or Costa’s should slip in there at some point, but no luck.

  2. I love the fact that we have hummingbirds year-round in Oregon. These small little beauties always put a smile on my face with their vibrant colors and lightning fast movements.

Because of this, I too constantly check the trees and bushes around me in hopes of spotting one of these beautiful creatures. I have also fallen for the trick of “spotting” a hummingbird, which really wasn’t a hummingbird at all. Great post Slugyard!
