Bumble bees love my columbine and sage plants. Since they bloom at different times my garden has bees around for months. It is easy to take bees for granted- they seem to be everywhere. But, native bumble bees are not doing well. According to The Xerces Society:
“Pollinators are a vital part of a healthy environment. Bumble bees are excellent pollinators of many crops and native plants. Some of our most common and important bumble bees are disappearing across their ranges.”
So try and plant some native plants that attract bees. If we all do a little, it will probably do a lot.
