Down by the river my boys and I startled this Belted Kingfisher. It was just where you would expect to find one- hanging out directly over the water on a perch. Water Droplets on a Barrenwort Leaf

Water is an amazing thing. Our bodies are made of mostly water and we constantly need to drink it to survive. But, it is a lot more complicated than we think. Look at the drops in this photo. Why do the water drops form into little balls? According to the United States EPA website:
