On the back side of my Walnut Tree (and thankfully hidden from my house) is this blunder.
Someone, for some reason, somehow, got this white piece of pipe or conduit stuck in the tree. The tree has grown around it, though the pipe doesn’t go all the way through. Did someone think this was a maple and they were looking for syrup?
We’ve lived here for five years now and it looks like the trunk swallowed the pipe up quite a while ago. There is a chance that this could affect the health of the tree but seeing that the Walnut Tree is very tall and quite prolific in growing walnuts, I think it is managing the situation.

Mystifying. Have been reading some of your former posts. Lovely, all of them, but especially Feb 26′s Uncommonly Common. Or was it Commonly Uncommon? Either way—-my sentiments exactly—another benefit of the art of paying slow attention.
Speaking of slow attention—I think my backyard bluebirds will fledge today. Come enjoy the moment!
