Hooded Mergansers Being Watched

Below the immature Bald Eagle in my last post (look up in the tree) were many Canada Geese and two pairs of Hooded Mergansers.

Here’s one of the pairs.  Recall on Christmas day I posted about a group of these birds in the middle of their courting dances.  Well, I guess a couple of the males won.  The male here is the one with the black head.

This is the other female.  Where’s the male?  Diving for food (see the ripples?).
