This hawk is perched in the same tree on our street in which I recently posted photos of bald eagles and ospreys sitting. It is a very tall Douglas Fir tree and it is near the top of a long slope down to the Willamette River. I am guessing that the view from up there must be spectacular, especially if you are a bird of prey.
This is most likely a red-tailed hawk. Although we can’t see its tail, the rest of it resembles one and they are so common that it is usually a good guess. See its sharp beak? It makes for a perfect eating tool when the bird catches its prey.

Good capture! Hawks can be elusive. Happy SWF!
Great shot! Love the hawk against those blue, blue skies! Marvelous! Have a wonderful weekend!

A great shot indeed!
Cool shot! Hawks are hard to photograph! They have eyes like…er..hawks, and fly away at the first sign of a camera.
Yes, there must be a great view from that tree if all the birds of prey use it. A super photo, indeed.

I love hawks as you can see from my own blog. I think you are right, these birds have an amzing view from up there. Would it not be fun to join them once… Have a splendid weekend~
Lovely shots. Have a nice weekend.
Beautiful capture of the hawk.
Have a great weekend.
Lovely shots. I have only recently become interested in birding. Well interested enough to go on specific birding holidays. I like photography too but joining the two is most most difficult.
I do enjoy birding, how lucky you are to see all of these beauties.
Beautiful SkyWatch photos
Happy SWF! Have a nice weekend,

I wonder if they have raptor signs pointing them to the scenic lookout or are birds so much more intelligent than humans and don’t need them.
What a wonderful sight seeing such a grand bird on top of the tree like this! Great photos!
Wow, what an amazing bird! Perfect shot…
Thanks for dropping by…
