Water is an amazing thing. Our bodies are made of mostly water and we constantly need to drink it to survive. But, it is a lot more complicated than we think. Look at the drops in this photo. Why do the water drops form into little balls? According to the United States EPA website:
A drop of water is small, but it is made of even smaller parts called molecules. Water molecules have bonds that hold them together. At the surface of the water, the molecules hold on to each other even more tightly because there are no molecules pulling on them from the air above. As the molecules on the surface stick together, they form an invisible “skin” called surface tension.
It is this “skin” that makes the water bend into these shapes. This is yet another reminder that when we pay attention to things that are really small it can change the way we look at the world.

Water is an awesome force…and a strange material.
In recent decades, building science has focused its attention on countering its wiley behavior. Natural structures have taught us a lot about how to manage it.
Terrific shot.
very interesting info and marvelous shot!
